This Week in Teams, Craig and Jay jump into the October 2021 Microsoft Teams Team product blog where ALL the goodies that were announced for commercial and US Government tenants.
On this month’s episode, we jumped into the Government announcements first, because Jay wanted to and because for the first time in forever, there seem to be a lot of them. We discussed how often times the Government tenants feel left behind in all the great teams news, but now it seems Microsoft is trying hard for speedier delivery times. We then proceeded to discuss the below topics in detail.
- New assignment experience in modal window for breakout rooms
- Presenter mode in desktop or window sharing
- Present from PowerPoint to Teams
- Prompt to set Meeting Options for Large Teams Meetings in Outlook for Windows
- Together mode
- Improved experience for sharing content in a meeting
- Live Transcript in unscheduled meetings using Meet Now and Channel meetings
- Teams webinar capabilities for GCC
- Download Attendance report for GCC
- Guest access support on mobile for DOD
- Guest access support on mobile for GCC-High
- Guest Access – Teams now supports Guest Access between tenants inside the GCC-High Cloud.
- Teams device management in DoD
After that we talked about Meetings and weather and discussed how we liked how Whiteboard was becoming a bigger piece of Teams Meetings and how it can used. We also talked more about:
- Live Transcript in unscheduled meetings using Meet Now and Channel meetings
- Breakout Room managers support
- Breakout room pre-meeting room creation and participant assignment
- Presenter mode ‘Standout’ in PowerPoint Live
From there we moved on to discussing being able to have chat supervisors who could monitor meetings and delete any inappropriate messages, suggested chat replies, and Visio Viewer (the ability to view Visio diagrams even if you don’t have a license.
Lastly we had a discussion about allowing users to buy and deploy apps directly from the store. We will be interesting to see how companies use the feature or if IT governance will shut it down.
We wrapped up talking about Ignite, https://myignite.microsoft.com/home, and recommending people attend if they could.
Have a good day and please leave a comment if there is anything you would like us to talk about in an upcoming episode!
